Keep them beautiful
Thoughtful care preserves the shape, finish and character of your shoes, helping every pair become a lasting favourite.
Try new shoes on a clean, soft surface until you are certain of the fit. Use a shoehorn where possible and avoid crushing the back of the shoe. If a leather sole has a protective film, remove it only once you have decided to keep the pair.
Remove dust with a soft brush or cloth. Apply a small amount of neutral or colour-matched leather cream, testing it first on a discreet area, then buff gently. Regular light care is better than occasional heavy treatment.
Use a dedicated suede brush on dry shoes to lift the nap and remove surface dirt. Avoid ordinary leather creams. If you use a specialist protector, follow its instructions carefully and patch-test before treating the full shoe.
Wipe away dust with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow the surface to dry naturally. Do not use a stiff brush. An occasional patent-leather product can help maintain shine and flexibility when used as directed.
Blot moisture gently and fill the shoes with plain tissue paper to support their shape. Leave them to dry naturally, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat. Brush or condition only once completely dry.
When possible, avoid wearing the same pair on consecutive days so moisture can evaporate. Store shoes clean and dry with tissue or shoe trees inside, protected from direct sunlight. For leather soles, a trusted cobbler can advise on adding a protective rubber layer.
